CORINTIO TOTEM

The “Corintio” ToTem is a special collaboration with Metaphores Paris (Hermès Holding Textiles) for the launch of - Neolympique - the 2020 new fabrics collection, inspired by Ancient Greek architecture.

Taking the challenge to create a classic revival piece with a twist, the “Corintio” is the dialogue between the bold and sensuous fabrics of the Metaphores collection and the elements of a Corinthian column.

One of the particular elements that emerged in this design, is the totem head that mimics the volume and shape of the heavily decorated capital of a Corinthian column with its elaborate ornamental Acanthus leaves, by simply repeating the curvaceous forms with velvet black blades.

The Corintio ToTem not only resembles a column with its capital and accentuated vertical lines; it also embodies a human figure in its proportions or a vase with its ears. It’s the continuation of the designer’s fascination for soft shapes connected to the human figure.

While combining the textured constellation of dots of the “Spuma” fabrics and the nebula effect of the new Paros Noir fabric, the Corintio ToTem recreates the starry night sky as a tribute to the gods and the immortals behind the stars.
